Ken and Barbara's complete remarks

(Ken)

Good morning. My name is Ken Boucher and this is my wife Barbara. We have been married for fifty-four years. We have three daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandson.

A few years ago our three daughters honored us with a wonderful fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration attended by relatives and friends, many whom we had not seen for forty or more years.

Folks we had known for so many years who were still married - is not unusual - in our age group, but the longevity of marriage of so many who attended, triggered our thinking that it would be nice if there were an organization to recognize and honor couples reaching the fifty year milestone. After much thought the name Goldenaires was chosen for an organization Barbara and I then founded. We felt we certainly are heirs of a lasting and continuing relationship.

Through our non-profit Goldenaires organization we encourage and enroll members and supporters who want to be models to younger generations, models of what a lifelong, committed marriage between a man and a woman means in terms of health, happiness, family and long life.

History shows us, without a doubt, that children do best when they are raised in the environment of a married father and mother.

The world we were born into some seventy-five years ago was then very different than the world that young people must face today. Many things have changed but the one thing that must stay the same is the institution of marriage.

Firmly believing in this, Barbara and I founded Goldenairesä to be an organization of members with a vision and intent to remain committed to their marriage vows and to honor others who have achieved and / or are in support of this vision and intent.

Based on fifty-four years together, I believe Barbara feels much the same.

1. I like what Bill Cosby says about marriage. - “For two people in a marriage to live

together day after day is unquestionably the one miracle The Vatican has overlooked”.

My husband doesn’t say much; he just brings me a flower in the morning.

Nearly 54 years ago our wedding was a celebration of holy matrimony and even though the celebration is threatened at times by the realities of life, we never give up!

Trust, forgiveness, sharing and love live with us and we are thankful for the miracle granted us and we ask for God’s blessings on the celebration of marriage, children family and community.

Get Married ! ! !

Singles don't tend to live as long as married people. A 2006 study from the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health showed that never married people were 58 percent more likely to die earlier than an age-matched group of married people. Divorced or separated people were 27 percent more likely to die earlier than married people.
