Time-Tested Relationship Tip

Week of May 31, 2010

"Defining the word 'love' is not easy. It requires a mental and physical attitude practiced every day of your life. In my boyhood days, I was a Boy Scout and believed in the 12 laws of scouting. I find these words very descriptive of a successful marriage....."

  1. TRUSTWORTHY...trusting in one another and adhering to your vows.
  2. LOYALTY...completely loyal to one another.
  3. HELPFUL...in sickness and in health.
  4. FRIENDLY...enjoy life, make each other laugh.
  5. COURTEOUS...to each other, and especially among other friends.
  6. KIND...in times of sadness and sickness...understand and share each other's emotions.
  7. OBEDIENT...lying and cheating has no place in the love of one another.
  8. CHEERFUL...remember, a smile is a frown turned upside-down.
  9. THRIFTY...to be successful such as a home, car, etc., sacrifice may be necessary.
  10. BRAVE...there may be times when bravery is necessary for self-protection but don't be foolish.
  11. CLEAN...physically clean and mentally clean is a must.
  12. REVERENT...path of righteousness and believing in each other.
